Annecy is known as the “Venice of the Alps”. On this guided tour, you will explore this beautiful French city and enjoy a panoramic tour of Geneva.
Itinerary
We will meet in the center of Geneva before taking the bus to Annecy in the French Alps.
The guided walking tour begins in Annecy, a city formerly governed by the House of Savoy. Known for its canals, Annecy earned the nickname ‘Venice of the Alps.'
During our stroll through the medieval streets, we will learn about Annecy's history as a crucial site during the counter-reformation, especially as John Calvin influenced nearby Geneva.
This 45-minute tour includes stops at significant locations, such as the Château d'Annecy and the Island Palace, the latter of which served as a prison during the Renaissance and Second World War.
After the tour, you will have 2 hours of free time to explore the historic quarter and enjoy lunch (not included).
Following the break, we will return to Switzerland for a panoramic tour of Geneva. From the air-conditioned bus, you will see major attractions, including the United Nations headquarters, the flower clock, and the Jet d'Eau.
To complete the day, we will take a ride on the mini tourist train through Geneva's historic quarter.
