Tour Details
We'll meet at the designated time in front of the Tourist Information Office at the Old Port, where we'll begin this walking tour of medieval Genoa, a journey back in time to discover the city's fascinating past.
The tour will start next to the Embriaci Tower, one of the only medieval towers that have survived up until the present day, and a symbol of the ancient Genovese nobility. From here, we'll head over to Campopisano, an area that holds a lesser-known but intriguing chapter in the city's history, and the Church of Santa Maria di Castello, an example of medieval architecture.
We'll continue towards the Church of San Donato, a small Romanesque church, and the Porta Soprana, an impressive example of the city's medieval defensive walls.
Lastly, we'll visit the Sant'Agostino Museum, exploring its triangular cloister, the adjoining church, and the remains of the mausoleum of Margaret of Brabant, a work by the sculptor Giovanni Pisano.
After a total of 2.5 hours, this tour will conclude at the museum's exit.
