Description
At the Straits and Oriental Museum, you can enjoy a museum, art gallery, restaurant, café, bar, and gift shop, all conveniently located in one place. As the first cultural center of Malaysia and Penang, this venue provides a comprehensive experience where you can delve into the history, cuisine, and culture of both the country and the island. The museum showcases ancient ceramics retrieved from shipwrecks, featuring a collection of artifacts from well-known wrecks including the Wanli, Turiang, Royal Nanhai, Nanyang, Xuande, and Desaru. Situated within the St. Jo's building, formerly St. Joseph's Novitiate, the Straits and Oriental Museum holds a unique place in Penang's heritage and features a chapel adorned with stained glass windows.
