The museum showcases ancient ceramics retrieved from shipwrecks, featuring authentic pieces salvaged from various maritime journeys. The collection includes artifacts from notable wrecks like the Wanli, Turiang, Royal Nanhai, Nanyang, Xuande, and Desaru.

Located within the St. Jo's building, formerly St. Joseph's Novitiate, the Straits and Oriental Museum holds a unique place in Penang's heritage and features a chapel adorned with stained glass windows. This museum is recommended for its blend of cultural and historical treasures.
