Visit the Girona Art Museum
The Girona Art Museum houses important art pieces in the province, located in the old Episcopal Palace, a classified Historic-Artistic Complex. The site includes prison spaces for condemned clergymen and gardens open at various times of the year.
During your visit, you can explore picturesque works of art and sculptures in chronological order, along with a dedicated room for liturgical art such as pottery and glass.
The permanent collection features works from the Diocese of Girona, the Provincial Council, and the Generalitat de Cataluña art funds, including Romanesque and Gothic art collections and altarpieces such as those of Pubol and Cruïlles, along with Renaissance pieces attributed to Joan de Burguña and Pere Mates.
Additionally, the museum showcases Catalan painting and sculpture from the 19th and 20th centuries, including works by Miquel Blay, the Vayreda brothers, Santiago Rusiñol, Prudenci Bertrana, Mela Muter, and Celso Lagar.
