Visit the Girona Art Museum
The Girona Art Museum houses significant pieces of art from the province. Located in the old Episcopal Palace, a classified Historic-Artistic Complex, it also includes several prison spaces used by condemned clergymen. The museum features gardens open at different times of the year.
Visitors can admire a chronological display of artworks and sculptures from various styles and centuries. A room is dedicated to liturgical art including pottery and glass.
The permanent collection includes works from the Diocese of Girona, the Provincial Council, and Generalitat de Cataluña art funds, featuring Romanesque and Gothic art collections, as well as Renaissance pieces attributed to Joan de Burguña and Pere Mates. Also notable are 19th and 20th-century Catalan painting and sculpture by artists such as Miquel Blay and Santiago Rusiñol.
