Follow in the footsteps of one of Spain's important historic communities on this tour through Girona's Jewish Quarter and the Museum of Jewish History, showcasing a mix of Roman, Medieval, and Jewish heritage.
Jewish Quarter Tour + Museum of Jewish History
Meet at the designated time in Plaça de Sant Feliu square to begin your guided tour of the Jewish neighborhood of Girona, one of the best preserved in Europe. This area, known as the "Call", housed one thousand inhabitants during the Middle Ages, marking it as a significant Jewish community in Spain's history.
As you navigate the narrow streets of the Jewish Quarter, the birthplace of Nachmanides, you'll visit the locations of the city’s three synagogues.
The guided tour covers the customs and traditions of the Jewish people, their tools and house designs, culminating at the Museum of Jewish History to learn about their lifestyle. Your guide will discuss the history of the Expulsion of the Jews in 1492, an event ending 600 years of coexistence. After three hours exploring the "Call", the tour concludes, providing insight into the lasting influence of the Jewish community in Girona.
