Jewish Quarter Tour + Museum of Jewish History
We'll meet at the designated time in Plaça de Sant Feliu square to begin your guided tour of the Jewish neighborhood of Girona, one of the best-preserved areas in Europe. Known as the "Call", this district housed one thousand inhabitants during the Middle Ages, reflecting its historical significance.
You will navigate the narrow streets of the Jewish Quarter, the birthplace of Nachmanides, a noted Medieval Kabbalistic philosopher and Rabbi, visiting the sites of the city's three synagogues.
During the guided tour, you will learn about the customs and traditions of the Jewish people, their tools, and the design of their homes. The tour includes a visit to the Museum of Jewish History for insights into their lifestyle.
Your guide will explain the history of the Expulsion of the Jews in 1492, concluding 600 years of coexistence. After three hours of exploration in the "Call", your tour will conclude, leaving you with an understanding of the significant influence of the Jewish community in Girona.
