Gjirokastër Tour
We will meet at Sheshi Çerçiz Topulli Square to start this guided tour of Gjirokastër. After an introduction to the town, we will walk through the cobblestone streets of the Old Bazaar quarter, where we will see the oldest houses and appreciate traditional architecture.
Next, we will skirt the citadel of Gjirokastër, learning about its significance during the Ottoman era. We will cross the Zerzebili bridge to access the neighborhoods of Dunavant and Cfaka, where we will view the tekkes associated with the Bektashi Order.
Our last stop will be the Ali Pasha Bridge, a remnant of the 19th-century aqueduct built by the Ottoman ruler Ali Pashe Tepelena to supply water to the castle. After 3 hours of exploring, we will conclude the guided tour by returning to the initial meeting point.
