Our Granada Cármenes Tour is designed for those interested in the local culture of Granada. We will explore the Albaicín neighbourhood, known for its unique architecture and gardens, and visit three cármenes.

Granada Cármenes Tour

We will meet at 10 am on Paseo del Generalife. The 2-hour tour will include visits to 3 Granada manors, referred to as cármenes, where you can appreciate their architecture and history.

The first stop is the Carmen of Martyrs, a 19th century manor at the foot of the Alhambra. Here, we will enter the baroque garden with its French details and view numerous sculptures, including swans in the pond, before exploring the Nasrid courtyard.

Next, we will proceed to the Albaicín neighbourhood, Granada's oldest district, to visit two additional manors. Along the way, we will admire façades of symbolic buildings such as the Carmen of Our Lady of Angustias and the Carmen of Three Stars, which has Arab-influenced architecture.

We will then visit the Carmen of Victoria, known for its impressive water features, followed by the Carmen of Max Moreau. During our exploration, we will learn about the owner, a Belgian painter who admired Granada.

The tour concludes at Plaza Nueva at 12 noon.

Important

Access to Carmen of Victoria is very limited. If we cannot visit, we will go instead to the Palacio de los Córdova and the Archaeological Museum (Casa de Hernándo de Zafra).
