Two Spanish Renaissance gems declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO await us on this excursion to Úbeda and Baeza from Granada. We'll see palaces and beautiful churches as we delve into the history of these cities.
Úbeda & Baeza Excursion
At 9 am, we'll meet at Plaza de las Descalzas where we'll board a bus for the trip to Baeza, lasting about an hour and a half.
Upon arrival in Baeza, you'll have 4 hours of free time to explore this World Heritage City and enjoy lunch. Baeza, along with Úbeda, is recognized as the capital of the Renaissance in Andalusia. Notable sites include the Fountain of St Mary, Aliatares Tower, Cathedral, Jabalquinto Palace, Seminary of San Felipe Neri, and the University of Baeza. A sculpture honoring poet Antonio Machado can also be found here.
Next, we’ll return to the bus and proceed to Úbeda. A guided tour of an hour and a half will cover its historic center, highlighting the Holy Chapel of El Salvador, Basilica of Santa María de los Reales Alcázares, and the Vazquez de Molina Palace, also known as the Palace of the Chains. After the tour, you'll have an additional hour and a half of free time for lunch.
The excursion concludes between 4 and 5 pm, returning to the starting point in Granada.
