Gravina in Puglia Private Tour

At your chosen time, we will meet in Piazza Benedetto XIII to start the private tour of Gravina in Puglia, located in a crevasse among spectacular gorges.

We'll begin by visiting the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, showcasing a blend of late Romanesque, Renaissance, and Baroque styles. The cathedral was destroyed by a significant fire and later by an earthquake.

Next, we will head to the Church of Purgatorio, also known as the Church of Santa Maria del Suffragio. The entrance features two skeletons on the tympanum which will be explained during the tour.

We will then explore the medieval neighborhoods of Fondovico and Piaggio, the city's oldest sections. Here, we will visit Gravina's rock church and the Church of San Michele, a pre-Christian temple carved into tuff with Byzantine frescoes.

Finally, we will traverse the Viadotto Madonna della Stella, an 18th-century bridge offering panoramic views of the ravine. Remember to bring your camera!

After a two-hour tour, we will conclude our visit.
