Desert Castles & Dead Sea Tour

Your journey begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Amman. We will drive eastwards to explore two of the most iconic desert castles in Jordan. These historic fortresses, constructed between the 7th and 11th centuries, served as defence structures, caravanserais, and palaces.

Our first destination is Harranah Castle, a significant example of early Islamic architecture built by the Umayyad caliphs. As we stroll through the courtyard and rooms, you'll learn about the influences of the Roman, Byzantine, and Sassanid cultures.

Next, we'll visit Amra Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inside this medieval palace, you'll admire 8th-century fresco paintings depicting hunting scenes, rulers, and zodiac designs.

After concluding our castle tours, we will continue to the Dead Sea, a remarkable lake bordered by Jordan, Israel, and Palestine, located over 400 meters below sea level. Its high saline concentration creates an environment where aquatic life cannot thrive, giving it the Dead Sea name.

You will have 2 hours of free time to swim in the Dead Sea and enjoy its renowned therapeutic benefits, known for their cosmetic and medical applications throughout history. Experience the unique sensation of floating in its dense waters.

The tour concludes after approximately 9-9.5 hours, at which point we will return you to your hotel in Amman.

A minimum of 2 adults is required to participate in this activity; for instance, one adult and one child do not qualify.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

You will start your day with a hotel pick-up in Amman, followed by a drive to the desert castles, where you'll engage in informative tours. Each castle's historical significance will be discussed, highlighting architectural features and artistic details. After visiting the castles, the tour will proceed to the Dead Sea, allowing for 2 hours of leisure time to swim and experience the buoyancy of its waters.
