Explore one of Mumbai's most significant temples, the Elephanta Caves, featuring ancient stone terraces, statues, and wall carvings dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
Description
This tour begins with a morning pickup from your hotel, followed by a visit to the iconic Gateway of India. Here, you will board a tourist boat to journey to the Elephanta Caves, a recognized World Heritage Site and a prominent temple in Mumbai.
After approximately one hour of sailing, you will arrive at Elephanta Island, home to a complex of seven caves. The island's serene environment contrasts with the busy atmosphere of Mumbai, allowing you to explore the main temple dedicated to the Hindu sun god, Shiva.
The impressive carvings on the temple walls depict various tales from Shiva's life, with the most notable feature being the central three-headed statue, symbolizing the three aspects of the god: creator, protector, and destroyer.
Your visit to the island will conclude roughly four hours after the initial pickup, returning you to the original pickup point.
