On this private day trip to the Corralejo tequila factory and the Plazuelas archaeological area, we will explore history and cuisine. Discover the secrets of agave and visit a site over 2000 years old.
Tequila Factory & Archaeological Site
We will pick you up from your hotel in Guanajuato and head to Pénjamo to visit the Corralejo factory . This tequila factory from the 18th century is a highlight of our trip. After a 1.5-hour journey, we will tour one of the most famous distilleries in Guanajuato. During this guided visit, you will learn how agave is transformed into traditional Mexican tequila.
We will cover all the necessary phases to create this drink, from harvest to ageing, including ovens, mills and fermentation. You will have the opportunity to participate in a tasting of this drink. Afterward, enjoy some free time to eat before boarding the minibus to head south towards the Plazuela archaeological zone. This site features well-preserved pyramids.
We will discuss the significance of these structures in Mesoamerica while exploring the squares, temples and palaces. Travel back to 800 BC to learn about the Chupicuaro culture and the Toltecs, who are associated with these ruins.
After a 9-hour tour, we will return you to your hotel.
