On this excursion to Almeida, Castelo Mendo and Castelo Rodrigo we'll visit these three historical villages of Portugal and learn about their most popular legends.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Praça Luís de Camões in Guarda and start a tour of Portugal's historic villages.
First, we'll head to Almeida, known for its fortification. A guided tour of the old town will be conducted.
Almeida has several attractions, including the Gate of St. Francis, Squadrons' Barracks, Church of Mercy, and Gate of St. Anthony.
Next, we will visit Castelo Mendo, an ancient town with a medieval appearance. We'll stroll through its streets and see the old fortress, highlighting the wall and its ruined church.
We will also explore the new fortress of Castelo Mendo, known as Arrabal de San Pedro, and learn about the impact of the 1755 earthquake on its structure.
Finally, we will visit Castelo Rodrigo, a small village with a history shaped by territorial disputes.
After exploring Castelo Rodrigo, we will return to the starting point after 4 hours.
