We'll commence our adventure at the agreed time, gathering at Praça Luís de Camões in Guarda, embarking on a journey through Portugal's remarkable historic villages to uncover the richness of its past.

Our first destination will be Almeida, a village celebrated as one of the finest examples of fortification in Portugal. Here, we will engage in a guided exploration of the historic town, immersing ourselves in its deep-rooted heritage.

Almeida has borne witness to numerous conflicts owing to its strategic location. Visitors can marvel at several significant sites, including the impressive Gate of St. Francis, the historic Squadrons' Barracks, the Church of Mercy, and the Gate of St. Anthony.

Our exploration will then continue to Castelo Mendo, known for its enchanting medieval character that leaves a lasting impression on each visitor. As we wander through its charming streets, we will encounter the ancient fortress, notable for its resilient walls and the remnants of the old church.
