Trancoso, Marialva & Linhares da Beira Excursion

At the appointed time, we'll meet at Praça Luís de Camões in Guarda to set off on this trip to Trancoso, Marialva, and Linhares da Beira, 3 of Portugal's most historic villages.

First, we'll visit Trancoso, a town considered one of the main villages of Portugal. We will review the history of this town, fundamental in the independence and maintenance of the country's borders.

We'll check out the remains of its medieval walls and the exteriors of the Castle of Trancoso, important sites on the Route of Historical Villages (GR22). After exploring Trancoso, we'll head to Marialva.

The Castle of Marialva dominates the view. We will explore its medieval streets and learn stories about this town, including visits to the churches of Marialva and the main square, home to remnants of the ancient city and administrative center.

Our next stop will be Linhares da Beira, known for its well-preserved castle and unique urban layout. We will explore the architecture of its old town and local legends.

During our visit, we will also see Misericordia Church and the Igreja Matriz, both of significant historical value. Finally, we will return to the meeting point in Guarda after a total of 4 hours.
