On this coffee tour of Guatapé, we will visit a coffee farm and explore the processes involved in growing, collecting, and drying coffee.
Description
At your chosen time, we will meet on Calle 32 #28-29 in Guatapé. We will then travel to the coffee farm in the Vereda Bonilla neighborhood, approximately 20 minutes away by tuk-tuk.
Upon arrival at the farm, a local farmer will demonstrate how coffee beans are cultivated. The seeds are meticulously selected, and their germination is monitored daily with proper irrigation.
Next, we will observe the collection of coffee beans, which initially appear reddish. These beans are stored in sacks for transport to the pressing plant, where they are ground and then moved to the drying area.
Throughout the tour, we will learn fascinating information about Colombian coffee, one of the top exported products in South America, including the annual export tonnage.
We will conclude our visit by tasting some local coffee, paying attention to its aromas, colours, and taste.
After 1.5 hours, we will return to the meeting point in Guatapé.
