Excursion to La Peña Caverns

Our adventure commences at the specified meeting point on Calle 32 in Guatapé. From this location, we will proceed to the La Peña caverns, a short drive away.

Upon reaching the entrance, we will equip ourselves with helmets and step into these fascinating caves, which extend 100 meters (328 feet) into the earth. Within this network of underground chambers, we will uncover the unique biodiversity that characterizes this segment of the Antioquia department in Colombia.

We’ll embark on a 90-minute guided exploration throughout the caverns, where we will delve into their geological background. This journey includes a close look at the diverse rocks and minerals that make up the walls of these stunning formations.

During our time inside, tales of local legends concerning the caves will also be shared, as it is said that Indigenous cultures in this region were already aware of these underground wonders.

After our cave adventure, we will make our way back to Guatapé, with an anticipated return to the meeting point around four hours after we initially set out.
