After picking you up from your hotel in Juan Dolio at 9 am, we'll board the safari trucks for a tour of the sugar cane plantations. We will drive through the south of the island over rough terrain until we reach the plantations near the village of Benérito. Here, you'll taste locally-grown sugar cane at the weighing station.

Next, we'll visit a nearby village, or batey, to learn about local life. The tour continues to Higüey, where you will see how Dominican cigars are made in an organic tobacco factory. After exploring the market of Higüey and its variety of tropical fruits, we’ll visit the Basilica of the Virgin of Altagracia, the main church in the city. A typical Dominican lunch will follow.

The highlight of the tour is a boat trip on the Chavón River. On a traditional boat, you'll admire the natural environment and spot iguanas, exotic birds, and various plants. Finally, we'll return to the safari truck to head back to Juan Dolio, arriving at hotels at 5 pm.
