Santo Domingo City Tour
Between 7 am and 8 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Juan Dolio to take you to Santo Domingo. Ready to get to know the Dominican capital?
First, we'll visit the Tres Ojos National Park to discover the secrets of its spectacular cave and a freshwater lake. Next, we'll stop at the Columbus Lighthouse, said to be the resting place of Christopher Columbus. We will also admire the imposing exterior of the Presidential Palace and head to a local restaurant for a buffet lunch featuring typical dishes such as rice, meat stew, and beans.
After lunch, we'll start a guided tour of the colonial area of Santo Domingo, including the temple of Santa María de la Encarnación, the first cathedral, and the Plaza de España, home to the Alcázar de Colón. Along Las Damas Avenue, we will pass the National Pantheon and admire the 18th-century Church of the Jesuits.
We'll stroll through the pedestrian streets of the Colonial area with art exhibitions and cafes. You will also visit a handicraft store to learn about Larimar and Amber. Afterward, enjoy free time for shopping on Calle El Conde or relax with coffee in a nearby square.
We'll regroup and head to the Malecón to finish with a beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea before returning to Juan Dolio around 5 pm.
Temporary closures
The Alcazar de Colon will be closed for remodeling. During this time, we will tour the Museum of the Royal Houses (Museo de las Casas Reales), a key Cultural Monument of Dominican History.
