Santo Domingo City Tour
Between 7 am and 8 am, pickup will occur at your hotel in Juan Dolio to take you to Santo Domingo.
The first stop is Tres Ojos National Park, to explore the impressive cave and a freshwater lake. Next, we will view the Columbus Lighthouse, believed to be the resting place of Christopher Columbus.
We will then observe the exterior of the Presidential Palace, before visiting a local restaurant for a buffet lunch featuring typical dishes such as rice, meat stew, and beans.
After lunch, we will conduct a guided tour of the colonial area of Santo Domingo, visiting the temple of Santa María de la Encarnación (Catedral Primada de América). The tour also includes Plaza de España and the Alcázar de Colón, which provides historical insight and beautiful views.
Along Las Damas Avenue, we will pass the National Pantheon and the 18th-century Church of the Jesuits. We will explore the Colonial area, including a typical handicraft store to learn about Larimar and Amber. Free time is provided for shopping on Calle El Conde or enjoying a coffee.
We will gather to head to the Malecón, enjoying views of the Caribbean Sea before returning to Juan Dolio, with arrival expected around 5 pm.
Temporary closures
The Alcazar de Colon is closed for remodeling. During this period, we will visit the Museum of the Royal Houses (Museo de las Casas Reales) instead.
