Santo Domingo City Tour

Your adventure begins between 7 am and 8 am, as we pick you up en your hotel in Juan Dolio, setting the stage for your journey to Santo Domingo. Are you ready to discover the highlights of the Dominican capital?

Our first stop will be the Tres Ojos National Park, where we’ll unveil the mysteries of its stunning cave system and crystal-clear freshwater lake. What secrets lie within? We're about to find out! Following this, we'll pass by the renowned Columbus Lighthouse, a monument often regarded as the final resting place of Christopher Columbus.

Next, we’ll pause to admire the majestic façade of the Presidential Palace. Here, you’ll have the chance to appreciate the grandeur of this neoclassical masterpiece. After soaking in the architecture, we will head to a local restaurant for a satisfying buffet lunch, featuring traditional dishes such as rice, meat stew, and beans.

Post-lunch, we’ll embark on a guided tour through the colonial district of Santo Domingo, showcasing iconic structures, including the temple of Santa María de la Encarnación, known as the first cathedral, or Catedral Primada de América, where we will learn its rich history.

Continuing our journey, we’ll arrive at the Plaza de España, home to the historic Alcázar de Colón. Inside, we'll explore its fascinating past and picturesque surroundings before strolling along Las Damas Avenue, the very first street of the New World. On this avenue, we will encounter the National Pantheon, resting place of notable Dominican historical figures, as well as admire the façade of the 18th-century Church of the Jesuits.

Afterwards, we’ll wander through the vibrant pedestrian streets of the Colonial area, teeming with art displays, quaint cafes, and local artisans. We’ll visit a traditional crafts store to learn about Larimar and Amber, the semiprecious stone and resin prized in the Dominican Republic. You'll then enjoy some leisure time for shopping along the commercial avenue of Calle El Conde or relaxing over a coffee in the nearby squares.

As the tour draws to a close, we’ll gather again and make our way to the Malecón, the picturesque seafront promenade, where you can take in the stunning vistas of the Caribbean Sea.

We will conclude our day and return to Juan Dolio, arriving around 5 pm.

Temporary closures

The Alcázar de Colón is undergoing renovations and will be closed until further notice. During this time, we will replace this segment of the tour with a visit to the Museum of the Royal Houses (Museo de las Casas Reales), a key cultural monument showcasing Dominican heritage.
