Cajas National Park Hiking Activity
Good morning! We'll pick you up at 6:30 am from your hotel in Guayaquil and set off for Cajas National Park in the Andes Mountains. Upon arrival, we'll embark on a 4-hour hiking activity.
We'll follow the García Moreno trail to see the divided waters, with some flowing towards the Amazon and others to the Pacific Ocean. Legend has it that many hikers have attempted to stay overnight in this area but did not survive the cold nights.
Next, we'll ascend to an altitude of over 6,560 feet (2,000 metres) while appreciating the misty forests, moorlands, and the Chorro de Plata Waterfall, which features cascading water nearly 300 feet (90 metres) high. We will also explore medicinal plants and discuss their healing properties.
During our hiking route, we'll walk among ferns, orchids, mosses, and, if lucky, observe caracaras, hummingbirds, toucans, and the Andean condor. After approximately 6 miles (10 kilometres), we'll return to the starting point.
Finally, we will return to your hotel in Guayaquil, with drop-off at 2:30 pm.
