On this guided tour of Haarlem, we will explore the history of one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands.

Description

We will meet at 3 Lepelstraat at the scheduled time to begin this guided tour of Haarlem. The tour includes key sights of this medieval city that has retained its historical charm.

At Grote Markt, Haarlem's main square, we will view the façade of St. Bavo's Cathedral, a prime example of Dutch Gothic architecture. Adjacent to the cathedral is a sculpture dedicated to Laurens Janszoon Coster, a pioneer of printing.

We will walk through the city's streets while discussing its history, including its role as the home of the first settlers of New York, contributing to the existence of Harlem in New York City.

Key landmarks such as the Amsterdamse Poort, an old city wall entrance, and the Teyler Museum, which provided refuge to Jews during the Second World War, will be highlighted during our tour.

We will also discuss Spain's connections with Haarlem and why it is nicknamed the City of Flowers. You will gain insight into the city’s rich history.

After 2 hours of exploration, the guided tour of Haarlem will conclude in the city center.
