Georges Island Ferry

Meet at the Cable Wharf along the Halifax waterfront to catch the ferry to Georges Island. The ride lasts just 10 minutes, arriving at the Georges Island Port where you can explore at your own pace. The island is home to the historic Fort Warren and features one of the largest Civil War recreations in the country. Built in 1833 to protect the area during the war, the fort offers insights into the region's history. Additional activities include strolling through the island's forests and enjoying views of the coast of Halifax.

Return to Halifax

To return to Halifax, take any ferry departing from the island's port. Ferries run from 10:20 am to 3 pm with a frequency of every 40 minutes.

The Georges Island National Historic Site is open on the following days and times:

June 8 to 30, 2024: Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 3 pm.July 4 to September 1, 2024: Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 am to 3 pm.September 7 to October 31, 2024: Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 3 pm.
