Description

Day 1: Hammamet - El Djem - Matmata - Douz

Our adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Hammamet at the agreed time. Our first stop will be El Djem, celebrated for its impressive Roman amphitheater, often lauded as the Colosseum of Thysdrus. This awe-inspiring edifice allows us to step back into the era of the Ancient Roman Empire, giving insight into the civilization's historical significance in Africa.

After exploring the amphitheater of El Djem, we’ll proceed to Matmata, a location famous for its troglodyte homes, intriguing structures carved into the hills by Amazigh families, and recognized as a filming site for the Star Wars films.

Following a lunch pause, we'll head into the Douz desert, where you'll be able to admire its majestic sand dunes. Here, we’ll take a relaxed stroll across this striking landscape, and for those interested, we offer an optional camel ride.

At the end of the day, we will arrive at our accommodation in Douz, where you can enjoy a meal before unwinding for the night.

Day 2: Douz - Chott El Djerid - Tozeur

After a nourishing breakfast at your hotel in Douz, we’ll depart for Chott El Djerid, a vast salt lake situated in the heart of Africa. During our time here, we’ll witness the stunning colors of the landscape and discuss the fascinating optical illusions that arise when the water evaporates in this area.

Next, we’ll travel to Tozeur, where you’ll enjoy lunch to regain your energy. Following this, a guided tour of the Medina awaits. We’ll appreciate the distinctive brick construction, spotlight the striking minaret of the largest mosque in the city, and comprehend the significance of palm trees in this environment. Additionally, we’ll explore the market, observing how locals procure fresh produce and spices, which offers a genuine cultural experience.

As the day concludes, our day will wrap up at our hotel in Tozeur with dinner and relaxation.

Day 3: Tozeur - Kairouan - Hammamet

On the final day of our tour, we’ll begin with breakfast at our accommodation in Tozeur before setting off for Kairouan, one of Tunisia's oldest and most sacred cities. Our exploration will include the historic Sidi Sahbi Mosque, dating back to the 13th century.

As we stroll through Kairouan's Medina, we will uncover the city’s rich past, characterized by its martial history and ties to the esteemed Prophet Mohammed. We’ll also visit the lively souks, where the contrast of the whitewashed buildings and vivid indigo accents on windows and doors make for excellent photo opportunities!

After our explorations, we’ll savor a delightful lunch in Kairouan before returning to your hotel in Hammamet around 6 pm.
