Historic Hanover Guided Tour

At the indicated time, we’ll meet at Ernst-August-Platz 8 to begin a walking tour of Hanover.

As we walk, we’ll pass sites marked by the devastation of World War II, where by the war’s end, 90% of Hanover’s city centre had been destroyed.

Our first stop will be the Leineschloss, a former residence of kings and dukes, currently housing the Lower Saxony state parliament. Built in 1637, this castle has undergone numerous renovations, and we’ll learn about its history.

Continuing through Hanover’s Old Town, we’ll view the city’s iconic half-timbered medieval houses and explore hidden corners with cozy pubs and quaint cafés.

Next, we’ll visit the New Town Hall, an architectural marvel designed by Herman Eggert and Gustav Halmhuber. Completed in 1913 after 12 years of construction, its grand structure impresses visitors.

Afterwards, we’ll see the Hanover Opera House, with seating for 1,202. Originally built in 1852, it was heavily damaged in World War II but has since been beautifully restored.

Finally, we’ll conclude the tour after a total of 2 hours back at the starting point.
