Historic Hanover Guided Tour

At the indicated time, we’ll meet at Ernst-August-Platz 8, in the heart of Hanover, to embark on a walking tour of this historic city.

As we explore, we'll pass sites marked by the devastation of World War II, with 90% of Hanover’s city centre destroyed by the war’s end.

Our first stop will be the Leineschloss, the former residence of kings and dukes, now home to the Lower Saxony state parliament. Built in 1637, this castle has undergone numerous renovations, which we’ll discuss as we admire its exterior.

Continuing through Hanover’s Old Town, we’ll see the city’s iconic half-timbered medieval houses and discover hidden corners with cosy pubs and cafés.

Next is the New Town Hall, designed by Herman Eggert and Gustav Halmhuber. After 12 years of construction, it was completed in 1913, showcasing an impressive castle-like design.

We’ll also visit the Hanover Opera House, with seating for 1,202, originally built in 1852 and restored after significant damage in World War II, displaying a breathtaking classical façade.

After a total of 2 hours, we'll conclude the tour back at the starting point.
