Haputale Tea Plantation Hiking Tour

On this hiking tour to a Haputale tea plantation, we will hike a total of 14 km through forests. We will see plants and animals, and you can participate in picking tea leaves.

Early in the morning, we will meet at Haputale train station for a 1.5-hour train ride to Ohiya. From the train station in Ohiya, we will start trekking, walking for 30 minutes to a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the tea plantation. After this, we will walk an additional 30 minutes to reach our destination.

At the tea plantation, we will meet the family managing it, who will show us around and explain various products made from tea. You can also participate in the tea leaf harvest.

Following this visit, we will walk through eucalyptus and pine forests along the train tracks, passing through tunnels under the mountains of Sri Lanka.

Next, we will have a picnic lunch and continue through the Thangamale bird sanctuary, enjoying views of the mountain and Uva Basin. Various bird species, including blue magpies and black eagles, can be observed.

We will arrive in Ohiya after walking a total of 14 km, take the train back to Haputale, and conclude the tour at the station after a 6-hour experience.
