Day Trip Details

Having picked you up from your hotel in Havana at the scheduled time, we'll set off on our day trip to the Ciénaga de Zapata National Park.

Our 2-hour road trip will take us into the largest wetland in the insular Caribbean. Upon arrival at this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, we'll embark on a 1.5-mile (2.5-kilometre) hike. This location features unique fauna and flora and is a key freshwater reserve in Cuba.

We'll explore the mangroves, which protect the coastline and support 258 species of birds, 43 types of reptiles, and 15 mammals. This includes 5 endemic species and 16 endangered species, which will be covered during our tour.

This area is also suitable for birdwatching. If conditions permit, we'll observe species like Zapata wrens, Santo Tomás hens, Cuban emeralds, hummingbirds, long-tailed hawks, Cuban parakeets, marsh spindalises, herons, flamingos, and cranes.

We will make a stop for a swim in the Cenotes de Cristal on the Zapata peninsula and enjoy a typical Cuban lunch.

Our day trip to the Ciénaga de Zapata National Park concludes with your return to your hotel in Havana after 11 hours of activities.
