Did you know that the Cuban capital experienced a glamorous era linked to the Mafia and organized crime? On this casino and Mafia tour, we'll discover Havana in the golden years.
Havana Gangster Tour
At the appointed time, we'll meet at Central Park to follow in the footsteps of the Havana Mafia. This tour showcases the city's early 20th-century golden age.
The driving tour of Havana will start at the Hotel Sevilla, a Mudejar-style lodging that opened in 1908 and became infamous in 1930 under Amletto Battisti and Santo Trafficante Jr, who built one of Havana's famous casinos where Al Capone frequented.
We will proceed along Havana's coastline to discuss the Sun City project, a mafia initiative to transform Havana into a casino city akin to Las Vegas. We will pass by the Deauville Hotel, which has a twin in Miami, and view the Riviera Hotel, established by American gangster Meyer Lansky.
Continuing to the Miramar neighborhood, we will visit the Tropicana Cabaret, a hub for gangsters, politicians, and Hollywood stars. We will explore the Capri Hotel, built in the 1950s with mafia funding, owned by Santo Trafficante.
This 2-hour tour will conclude at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, which hosted the 1946 mafia meeting. A Frank Sinatra concert coincided with the occasion, attended by noted mafia members such as Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky, and Frank Costello. The hotel's casino, once famous, became the Cabaret Parisien, inaugurated by Eartha Kitt.
Finally, we will enjoy live music at the Hotel's Garden Bar, with a drink included.
