Havana Gangster Tour
At the appointed time, we'll meet at Central Park to follow in the footsteps of the Havana Mafia. This is a tour of the city's golden age in the early 20th century.
We'll start this driving tour of Havana by heading to the Hotel Sevilla, opened in 1908 and acquired in 1930 by Amletto Battisti and Santo Trafficante Jr, who created a notable casino there. Al Capone was known to visit.
Next, we'll tour Havana's coastline while learning about the Sun City project, an effort to transform Havana into a casino city like Las Vegas. We'll see the Deauville Hotel and the exterior of the Riviera Hotel, chosen by gangster Meyer Lansky as his base in Havana.
Continuing along the coastline, we'll enter the Miramar neighborhood and arrive at the Tropicana Cabaret, a venue for gangsters and politicians. We will discuss the Capri Hotel in the Vedado neighborhood, built with mafia funds in the 1950s and owned by Santo Trafficante.
We will conclude this 2-hour tour at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, where a significant mafia meeting took place in 1946, involving Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky, and Frank Costello. The casino was later transformed into the Cabaret Parisien, inaugurated by Eartha Kitt. We will enjoy live music at the hotel's Garden Bar, with a drink included.
