Do you know about the Yoruba religion and santería? Delve into the deepest secrets of this religion with this tour of Havana.

Yoruba Religion Tour

At 10 am, our journey into the Yoruba religion begins as we gather at Central Plaza. We will then walk towards the Casa de Africa Museum.

During the 15-minute walk, we will traverse Obispo Street, a lively area in Havana. Keep an eye out for santeros (Yoruba priests) in their first year of initiation, wearing traditional white attire.

Upon reaching the museum, we will explore the secrets of the Yoruba religion, which originated in West Africa and arrived in Cuba during the colonial period with enslaved individuals. Santería is a well-known aspect of this heritage.

A brief drive will take us to Hamel Alley, a key location for Afro-Cuban culture in the city. Here, you can enjoy the local music and view the vibrant murals. Free time will be provided for independent exploration.

Continuing, we will visit the home of a santera. The priestess will offer insights into the rituals of the Yoruba religion. You are welcome to inquire about your future.

Our guided tour concludes around 2 pm as we return to the starting point.
