Yoruba Religion Tour

At 10 am, our journey into the Yoruba religion begins as we gather at Central Plaza. From there, we will stroll towards the Casa de Africa Museum.

During the 15-minute walk, we will pass through Obispo Street. Keep an eye out for santeros (Yoruba priests) in their first year of initiation, wearing traditional white attire.

Upon reaching the museum, immerse yourself in the secrets of the Yoruba religion, which originated in West Africa and arrived in Cuba during the colonial period through enslaved individuals. Santería may be a familiar term.

A brief drive will take us to Hamel Alley, the center of Afro-Cuban culture. Here, enjoy the local music and admire the vibrant murals. You will have free time to explore this area on your own.

Continuing our journey, we will visit the home of a santera. The priestess will share insights into the various rituals of the Yoruba religion and you can ask her about your future if you wish.

Our guided tour concludes around 2 pm as we return to the starting point.
