Yoruba Religion Tour
At 10 am, our journey into the Yoruba religion begins at Central Plaza. We will walk towards the Casa de Africa Museum.
During the 15-minute walk, we will pass through Obispo Street, known for its lively atmosphere. Look out for santeros (Yoruba priests) in their first year of initiation, dressed in traditional white attire.
At the museum, you will explore the deep secrets of the Yoruba religion, which originated in West Africa and came to Cuba during the colonial period with enslaved individuals. Santería is a familiar term in this context.
A brief drive will then take us to Hamel Alley, the center of Afro-Cuban culture. Here, enjoy traditional music and view the vibrant murals on the walls, with free time for personal exploration.
Next, we will visit the home of a santera, where the priestess will discuss various rituals of the Yoruba religion. You may ask her about your future if you wish.
The guided tour concludes around 2 pm as we return to the starting point.
