3-Day Tour of Crete

On this 3-day tour of Crete from Heraklion, we'll discover fascinating places such as the Arkadi Monastery and the cities of Vatos & Zaros. A complete tour of Greek culture!

Tour Description

Day 1: Heraklion - Gortyna - Festo - Matala - Zaros

We'll pick you up at the indicated time in front of Hari’s Creperiê and leave Heraklion, driving to Gortyna, the ancient Roman capital of Crete. After exploring Gortyna, we'll visit the archaeological site of Festo, a major Cretan vestige of the Minoan civilisation.

The next stop will be in Matala, where you'll have free time to swim and enjoy lunch on your own. We will then arrive at Zaros, known for its natural springs. After settling into your accommodation, you'll have free time to explore the village. In the evening, we will enjoy a typical Cretan dinner with a show.

Day 2: Zaros - Vatos - Spili - Lampini - St. Antonio's Gorge - Rethymno

After breakfast, we'll depart for Vatos, exploring its narrow streets and visiting the old school and a museum of farming tools. Next, we will head to Spili for lunch before continuing to Lampini to visit Panagia church. We will then walk through St. Antonio's Gorge and later arrive at the hotel in Rethymno, where you will have the afternoon free.

Day 3: Rethymno - Margarites - Arkadi Monastery - Heraklion

After breakfast, we'll leave at 9:30 am for Margarites to explore its pottery tradition. We will visit the Arkadi Monastery and learn about its history. Before returning to Heraklion, we will tour the old town of Rethymno and the Venetian fortress of Fortezza.

The tour ends at 6 pm at the point from where we left Heraklion on the first day.

The tour includes 2 nights of accommodation with breakfast at the following 2 and 3-star hotels:

Zaros: Idi Hotel (2*)Rethymno: Ideo Hotel or similar (3*)

If the hotel in Zaros is unavailable, we'll spend the first night in Heraklion, at the Marin Hotel or similar.
