If you're passionate about the history of early civilisations, you won't want to miss out on this excursion from Heraklion, Gortyna, Phaistos, Matala, and Zaros, where we'll unravel some mysteries behind the Minoan civilisation.

Tour Details

After meeting in front of Hari's Creperie at the designated time, we'll visit Crete's most celebrated sites, starting with Gortyna, Phaistos, and Zaros. During the tour, we'll explore important landmarks on the island of Crete.

First, we'll head to Gortyna, the Roman capital of Crete, first inhabited around 3200 BC. We'll explore its ruins and learn more about the history of this place.

Next, we'll drive through The Mesara Plain to the archaeological site of Phaistos and its palace, considered the heart of the Minoan civilisation.

From Phaistos, we'll proceed to Matala Beach, where you'll have around 2 hours of free time for swimming and lunch at seaside restaurants.

Finally, we will visit Zaros, known for its spring water, ideal for nature lovers. The views of the lake are remarkable. The excursion will conclude at our original meeting point 10 hours after the start of the tour.
