If you want to learn about the history of Crete and discover all about the Minoan culture, this guided tour of the Heraklion Archaeological Museum is essential.
Tour Description
At the designated time, we will meet in front of Hari’s Creperiê and proceed to the Heraklion Archaeological Museum to begin the guided tour.
This museum houses the largest collection of Minoan art in the world, with unique pieces dating back to 6000 BC and artifacts spanning from the Neolithic to Roman times. It is recognized as one of the most significant museums in Europe.
The exhibition includes 27 rooms, featuring the Minoan collection, Minoan frescoes, and the historical period. During the tour, we will view items from the oldest finds on the island, including millennia-old everyday items and weapons.
We will also observe famous artifacts such as the Minoan snake goddess figurines, the reconstruction of the fresco Prince of the Lilies, and the Minoan gold ring depicting a ritual. Additional highlights include Minoan pottery adorned with images of birds and fish.
After a 2-hour exploration, we will conclude the activity at the starting point.
