Heraklion Food Tour

At the scheduled time, we'll meet by the Statue of the Unknown Soldier in Eleftherias Square. Once we have gathered, we'll embark on a tour to explore Crete's culinary scene.

As we walk through the historic centre of Heraklion, we'll visit 8 stops to taste traditional products and learn about their preparation. We will discuss the distinctions of Cretan gastronomy compared to other Mediterranean diets.

The tour begins with a Greek coffee, highlighting its significance in the country. Participants will also be introduced to "cup-reading" and the practice of revealing the future in coffee grounds. Additionally, we'll sample a traditional bougatsa cake from Heraklion.

Next, we will visit a local market to enjoy olives, cheese, biscuits, and Cretan olive oil. During the tour, we will engage with bakers, fishmongers, butchers, and cheesemongers to gain insights into Cretan cuisine.

Our adventure will also include organic meats, fried snails, and Cretan wines.

After 4 hours of exploration and tasting, the food tour will conclude back at the initial meeting point.
