Cheese, olive oil, coffee, wine, and other items await on our Heraklion Food Tour. Participants will stroll around this Cretan city and sample its traditional dishes.

Heraklion Food Tour

At the scheduled time, we will meet by the Statue of the Unknown Soldier in Eleftherias Square. After everyone has arrived, our food tour of Heraklion will begin, focusing on Cretan culinary traditions.

During our walk through Heraklion's historic center, we will make a total of 8 stops to taste traditional products and learn how they are made. We will discuss the distinctions of Cretan gastronomy compared to other Mediterranean diets as we navigate through the city.

We will start with a Greek coffee while discussing its significance. Participants will have the opportunity to learn "cup-reading" to interpret the coffee grounds. Additionally, we will enjoy a traditional bougatsa cake from Heraklion.

The tour will include a visit to a local market, where we will sample olives, cheese, biscuits, and Cretan olive oil. We will engage with bakers, fishmongers, butchers, cheesemongers, and others who will share insights into Cretan cuisine.

Participants will also experience organic meats, fried snails, and Cretan wines during this gastronomic adventure.

After 4 hours of exploring and dining, the food tour will conclude at the starting point.
