On this day trip to Rethymno from Heraklion, we'll discover the medieval past of one of the most beautiful towns of Crete and visit the historical Arkadi Monastery.
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the Heraklion Archaeological Museum to start the day trip to Rethymno and the Arkadi Monastery. We'll first stop in Margarites, a village known for its pottery tradition, where we'll stroll through its alleys to appreciate the unique architecture.
Next, we'll visit the Arkadi Monastery, a historic site and a symbol of freedom for Cretans, reflecting its importance during the Ottoman period. Our guide will provide insights into this period.
We will then continue to Rethymno, where we will walk through the old town towards the Fortress on Paleokastro hill, which offers panoramic views of the area.
After exploring, we'll return along the northern coastline, passing towns such as Bali, Fodele, and Agia Pelagia.
The tour concludes at the starting point 9.5 hours after departure.
