Discover the captivating traditions and nature of the Greek island on this tour of the towns in the center of Crete!
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet in front of the Heraklion Archeological Museum. We'll board a minibus and begin our comprehensive tour of the towns of Crete's center.
First, we'll visit the town of Zaros, known for its springs, the source of much of Greece's drinking water. We'll walk through its natural beauty and discuss its history, which is linked to water sources, and see Byzantine monasteries and Lake Votomos.
Next, we'll stop in Vatos, a small town in the forest where you'll learn about traditional customs and see a traditional cauldron for raki preparation.
Continuing, we'll reach Spili, home to the Kefalovriso Fountain featuring 25 lion heads. Here, you'll have an hour of free time to eat.
Our final destination is Lampini, where we will explore the Church and Museum of Panagia, which houses frescos from the 12th and 14th centuries. We will also visit St. Anthony's Throat for a hike.
After a total of 10 hours, we will begin our journey back to Heraklion, concluding our day trip.
