Argüeso Guided Tour
Join us at the Cantabrian settlement of Argüeso for a guided tour of this open-air museum. Explore the constructions and customs of the Iron Age.
The tour takes you through an enclosure surrounded by stone and wooden walls that houses seven huts, replicating the way of life from the 7th to the 1st centuries BC. Each of these dwellings resembles the fortified settlements of Barones, La Ulaña, Cildá and Monte Bernorio.
Learn about the materials used in construction and view reproductions of falcatas swords, daggers, helmets, shields, and belts from the era. One hut displays more refined pottery influenced by the Celtiberians, and you'll discover that at least eight Roman legions were required to defeat the Cantabrian tribes.
The tour also includes a replica of the Zurita stele, an indigenous piece that has generated numerous hypotheses. Listen to the guide for more insights.
