Argüeso Guided Tour
We'll meet you at the Cantabrian settlement of Argüeso at your chosen time for a guided tour of this open-air museum. The tour explores the constructions and customs of the Iron Age.
We will enter an enclosure surrounded by stone and wooden walls that contains seven huts, representing the lifestyle from the 7th to the 1st centuries BC. Each hut is a replica of the fortified settlements of Barones, La Ulaña, Cildá and Monte Bernorio.
During the tour, we will learn about the materials used in construction and see reproductions of falcatas swords, daggers, helmets, shields, and belts from that era. In one hut, there will be refined pottery influenced by the Celtiberian culture. It is noted that at least eight Roman legions were needed to defeat the Cantabrian tribes.
Additionally, we will view a replica of the Zurita stele, a unique indigenous artifact that has generated various hypotheses. The guide will provide explanations about these.
