La Pintada Archeological Site Hiking Tour

We will pick you up from your hotel in Hermosillo and travel to the archaeological site of La Pintada, where a captivating hiking route awaits.

After approximately one hour of travel, we will embark on a hike between 2.5 and 3.7 miles (4 and 6 kilometers) long, exploring this significant site in the heart of Sonora. La Pintada features vestiges dating from 700 AD to 1500 AD.

You will see numerous cave paintings encompassing a collection of more than 2,000 works that illustrate how different ethnic groups perceived their environment. We will share insights on the sacred rituals conducted in these areas and the shelter provided to the Seri and Yaqui indigenous peoples during the arrival of Spanish colonists.

As we traverse the site, various plant species such as ocotillo, palo fierro, mesquite, and gobernadora will be observed. Following our hike through La Pintada, a delicious lunch with grilled meat will be provided.

Afterward, we will return to Hermosillo, arriving approximately 10 hours later.
