Embark on a journey through the colonial district of Santo Domingo, a place rich in history and home to the legacy of the Columbus family alongside significant landmarks of the oldest city in the Americas.

Day Trip Overview

On the scheduled day of your excursion, we will collect you directly from your accommodation in Punta Cana before heading towards Santo Domingo.

To kick off our adventure, we will explore the impressive Los Tres Ojos grotto, renowned for its stunning freshwater lakes set within a magnificent cave. Following this, we will take a brief stop to observe the exterior of the Columbus Lighthouse, a site believed to house the explorer's remains.

Our next visit will be the Presidential Palace, where we'll admire the exquisite façade of this expansive neoclassical structure before proceeding into the Ciudad Colonial.

Once we reach this historically significant area—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—we will tour the interior of the Alcázar de Colón. This early 16th-century palace, located in Plaza de España, seamlessly blends Gothic, Mudéjar, and Renaissance architectural influences.

Continuing our exploration of Santo Domingo’s colonial past, we will enter the temple of Santa María de La Encarnación, known as the Cathedral Primada de America, the oldest cathedral on the continent, revealing its hidden stories. Following that, we will step back in time as we meander down the Calle de las Damas, the site of the first stone house erected in the New World. Our tour will culminate inside the National Pantheon, the resting place of numerous notable figures in Dominican history.

After this enriching experience, we will savor a delightful buffet lunch featuring local cuisine such as rice, meat stew, and beans at a restaurant in the historic center, accompanied by non-alcoholic drinks. Once rejuvenated, we will make our way to the scenic Malecón area to take in the beautiful vistas of the Caribbean Sea.

Finally, we will return you to your hotel, with an estimated arrival time between 9 and 11.5 hours post pickup.

Pickup will commence at the first hotel along the route at 7:30 am, allowing time for breakfast at your lodging. Please note that the specific pickup times for each hotel will be predetermined, except for the following:

Hotel Cortecito Inn and Punta Cana Princess: your pickup will be at 7:20 am
