Miyajima Japanese Tea Ceremony
We'll meet at the Okeiko Japan Academy in Miyajima, located in an ancient Zen temple, to learn about a traditional tea ceremony. Known as sadou, this ritual involves the preparation and presentation of matcha. There are several phases, including utensil preparation, tea preparation, bows, and final tasting. Each gesture's important symbolism will be explained, highlighting the significance of every detail.
After observing the process, you will prepare your own tea using the steps you have learned. The activity will conclude 30 minutes later.
Rent a Kimono
You have the option to rent a traditional Japanese kimono. We will meet at the indicated time, allowing you 30 minutes to choose your outfit and get ready. The tea ceremony will then commence, finishing 1 hour later.
Schedule
Depending on the selected option, the tour will be available at the following times:
Tour without kimono: at 10:30 am, 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm.Tour with kimono: at 10 am, 1 pm and 3 pm.
