Japanese Tea Ceremony in Miyajima

Our journey begins at the Okeiko Japan Academy situated in the heart of Miyajima. Within this culturally rich space, nestled in a historic Zen temple, you will explore the intricacies of a classic tea ceremony.

The ritual, known as sadou, encompasses the preparation and serving of matcha. This experience follows several essential phases including preparing the necessary utensils, making the tea, performing ritual bows, and indulging in the final tasting. You will gain insights into the significant symbolism behind each action, highlighting how every detail plays a crucial role.

After observing the complete process, you'll have the opportunity to prepare your own cup of tea, applying all the steps you have just learned!

The session will conclude after a period of 30 minutes.
