Join us on a complimentary journey through Holguín, known as the City of Parks, where we will uncover a historical mural, explore a colonial museum, and visit a historic church.
Description
Our adventure begins at the scheduled time in the Parque de las Flores. It's often referred to as the City of Parks by locals—for good reason, as you will soon discover!
We will start our exploration at the remarkable Orígenes mural, an intricate representation of four centuries of Cuban history rendered in bronze relief, which will provide us with a deeper understanding of the nation's evolution.
As we proceed, we will reach Calixto García Park, the city’s largest green space. Here, the fascinating La Periquera Museum awaits—an impressive colonial building that has withstood many assaults during independence struggles, serving as a significant historical landmark.
Continuing our tour, we will pause to admire the church of San José in its eponymous park. This basilica, known for its neoclassical architecture, stands as one of Cuba's oldest churches.
To enrich our experience in this city well-suited for children, we will visit the Children's Park, where a variety of animals, particularly birds, are housed in specially designed enclosures.
Our journey will lead us to the ascent of 458 steps to the majestic Loma de la Cruz (Hill of the Cross). There's no need to rush, as we can take breaks on the benches that line the path. Upon reaching the top, you will be greeted with breathtaking panoramic views of Holguín.
After concluding our experience at an art gallery, we will return to Marqueta Square, marking the end of our 2.5-hour exploration.
