Looking to experience the 4th largest city in Cuba? On this guided tour of Holguin, we'll take a walk through its picturesque historic centre to discover all about its heritage.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll begin this guided tour of Holguin from Parque de Las Flores, specifically in front of the Origins Mural.

First, we'll admire this work in relief that represents the foundation of the city and other emblematic moments of its history. 20 tonnes of concrete were used for its construction. Not far from there, we'll find the Plaza de la Marqueta and the cathedral of San Isidoro, where we'll enter to see its Moorish decoration from the 19th century.

We'll continue the tour in the heart of Holguín: the plaza and park Calixto García Íñiguez, which in the past had different mercantile, military, and theatrical functions. Then, we'll continue walking to San José Park, where the church of the same name stands. This basilica is the oldest in the city and was built by the Franciscan monks during the colonies.

Finally, we'll conclude this 3-hour walking tour by climbing up the 458 steps to the Loma de la Cruz viewpoint. Once at the top, we'll be able to enjoy extraordinary views and see the wooden cross that crowns the place and learn about its legend!
