Are you ready to explore the fourth largest city in Cuba? Join us on this guided exploration of Holguin, where we will stroll through its charming historic center and uncover the rich heritage it offers.

Description

Our guided experience will commence at the designated hour, beginning at Parque de Las Flores, right in front of the Origins Mural.

We will start by appreciating this relief sculpture, which illustrates the city's foundation alongside pivotal moments in its past. Remarkably, it required 20 tonnes of concrete for its creation! Nearby, we'll visit the Plaza de la Marqueta and the Cathedral of San Isidoro, where we will enter to admire its Moorish-style decor dating back to the 19th century.

Next, we will delve into the core of Holguin at the Calixto García Íñiguez plaza and park, historically a hub for commerce, military gatherings, and theatrical performances. From there, our journey continues to San José Park, home to the church after which it's named. This basilica, constructed by Franciscan monks during the colonial era, holds the title of the city's oldest church.

Our 3-hour walking adventure will conclude with an exhilarating climb of 458 steps to the Loma de la Cruz viewpoint. Upon reaching the summit, we will be rewarded with breathtaking vistas and will have the opportunity to see the iconic wooden cross that adorns this site, along with stories of its captivating legend!
