On this guided tour of Horta, we'll walk through the streets and Baroque buildings of one of the three capitals of the Azores.

Horta Guided Tour

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at Largo Dr. Manuel de Arriaga to begin our guided tour of Horta, the capital of the island of Faial. Horta, along with Angra do Heroísmo and Ponta Delgada, is one of the capitals of the Azores archipelago.

We will start by discussing the Infante Dom Henrique, known as the Navigator, and see his bust in the garden bearing his name. Next, we will visit the Town Market.

After the market, we will walk through the city streets, especially Ribeira da Conceição, to the churches of Carmen and Salvador, where we will appreciate Azorean Baroque architecture.

Our next stop will be the Prince Albert of Monaco Observatory for scenic views of Horta. Then we will proceed to Port Pim to visit local museums and historical buildings.

Lastly, we will visit the Santa Cruz fort, which protected the southern bay from pirate attacks, before returning to the meeting point, completing the tour three to four hours after starting.
