Do you have a sweet tooth? In this muéganos-making workshop, we'll learn the history and how this typical delicacy of traditional Huamantlan cuisine is made.

Cooking Workshop in Huamantla

We'll meet at the selected time at the hotel Las Candelas to visit an artisan workshop where muéganos, a traditional Mexican pastry, is produced in Huamantla.

These small honey-coated delicacies have their origins in Arab culture. Recipes such as marzipan and nougat crossed the Mediterranean to Europe, later merging with Spanish cuisine. During the colonization of the Americas, conquistadors introduced them to Mexican populations.

In this workshop, besides learning the history of this traditional sweet, we will attend a class to see first-hand how it's made. Afterward, you will put your hands to the dough to create the muéganos. In 2020, the muéganos of Huamantla were declared Cultural and Gastronomic Heritage of the state of Tlaxcala.

As a final touch, we'll taste the muéganos that we made during the workshop. After an hour and a half, we will conclude the activity and part ways with a delightful experience.
