Experience the waterfalls and lagoons that form part of Peru's landscapes in this excursion to the Nor Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve.
Description
We'll meet at the designated time in Plaza Huamanmarca in Huancayo before boarding a minibus that will take us to a natural beauty area. The early start will be worth it.
After about one hour on the road, we'll stop for breakfast and discover the Nor Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve, covering over 200,000 hectares (49,421 acres).
Our first stop, The Abra Negro Bueno or Negro Bueno Pass, offers a view of the High Andean lagoons from a height of more than 4,600 metres (15,091 feet).
Our journey continues through Villa de Tomás, where we'll learn local customs. After exploring the village in the reserve's center, we'll visit the Cañón de Uchco, admiring its gorge and landscapes during a 10-minute walk.
We'll arrive at Huancaya, birthplace of the lagoons and waterfalls of Nor Yauyos-Cochas. Here, we'll cross colonial bridges and viewpoints for optimal views of the reserve. After a 25-minute walk, we'll reach The Laguna Huallhua, a main attraction. You can book a boat ride across the lagoon to the Huallhua waterfalls.
Afterwards, we'll return to Huancaya for an hour-long break to visit a nearby restaurant and try local cuisine. We'll conclude our journey with a total of 16 hours back at the tour's original starting point in Huancayo.
