Experience the waterfalls and lagoons that form part of Peru's most breathtaking landscapes in this excursion to the Nor Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve.
Description
We'll meet at Plaza Huamanmarca in Huancayo before boarding a minibus to an area of indescribable natural beauty. The early start will definitely be worth it!
After about an hour on the road, we'll stop for breakfast and discover the wild beauty of The Nor Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve, covering over 200,000 hectares (49,421 acres).
Our first stop, The Abra Negro Bueno or Negro Bueno Pass, offers a view of the High Andean lagoons from over 4,600 metres (15,091 feet).
Next, we'll pass through the picturesque Villa de Tomás, learning local customs before visiting the Cañón de Uchco for a 10-minute walk to admire the gorge and landscapes.
We'll arrive at Huancaya, the birthplace of the lagoons and waterfalls of Nor Yauyos-Cochas. We'll cross colonial bridges and viewpoints for the best views. After a 25-minute walk, we'll reach The Laguna Huallhua, a main attraction. You can book a boat ride across the lagoon to the Huallhua waterfalls.
Feeling hungry? We'll return to Huancaya for an hour-long break to visit a nearby restaurant and try local cuisine. Afterwards, we'll return to Huancayo, concluding the tour after a total of 16 hours at the starting point.
