Tour Options
Booking offers two options starting at kilometer 35 in the Racchi Ayllu community. Both include an English-speaking guide, weaving workshop materials, and food for llamas and alpacas. A delicious lunch will consist of soup, a traditional main course, and a seasonal fruit drink.
Bracelet Workshop (2 Hours and 40 Minutes)
This option begins with a warm welcome and a hearty lunch. You will interact with llamas and alpacas, learn about guinea pig domestication, and participate in a bracelet weaving workshop guided by local craftswomen. The workshop will cover the textiles' social impact and detail the process from obtaining wool to dyeing. Hand-woven textiles will be available for purchase.
Schedule: every day at 12 noon, 1 pm, and 2 pm.
Waist Weaving Workshop (4 Hours)
This option includes feeding llamas and alpacas and discussions on guinea pig domestication. You will learn about textile processes aimed at empowering vulnerable women. Hands-on activities will involve hand spinning wool, dyeing wool, and waist weaving using sheep and alpaca fibers. At the end, you may take home the dyed wool and created belt, with the option to purchase local handcrafted items. Lunch will be held outdoors depending on the start time chosen.
