Racchi Ayllu Community Visit + Andean Weaving Workshop

Visit the Racchi Ayllu community and engage with locals to learn about their ancestral textile techniques. You’ll have the opportunity to weave a garment yourself.

Tour Options

When booking, choose between two options starting at kilometer 35 in the Racchi Ayllu community. Each option includes an English-speaking guide, weaving workshop materials, and food for llamas and alpacas, along with a lunch featuring soup, a traditional main course, and a seasonal fruit drink.

Details of each tour option are below:

Bracelet Workshop (2 Hours and 40 Minutes)

After lunch, engage with llamas and alpacas, feeding them and taking photos. Visit the guinea pig barn to learn about their domestication. Participate in a bracelet weaving workshop guided by local craftswomen, discussing their social project and the textile-making process from wool to yarn. There is an option to purchase hand-woven textiles at the end.

Schedule: every day at 12 noon, 1 pm, and 2 pm.

Waist Weaving Workshop (4 Hours)

This option starts with feeding llamas and alpacas while learning about guinea pig domestication. Gain insights into textile processes and the mission to empower vulnerable single women. Participate in hand spinning wool, dyeing wool, and waist weaving with sheep and alpaca fibers. You may take home the dyed wool and created belt, with the option to purchase handcrafted items.
