Huelva: On the Trail of Christopher Columbus
After being picked up from your chosen location, you will start your tour of the "lugares colombinos" in the province of Huelva. Your local guide will share the history of Palos de la Frontera, an ancient fishing town. You will visit the 13th century Franciscan monastery, La Rábida Friary, where Columbus stayed after his 1490 expedition request was rejected. The monastery has been a Spanish National Monument since 1856.
Next, you will proceed to the Wharf of the Caravels, a museum dedicated to Columbus' journey, featuring full-size replicas of the three ships: Pinta, Niña, and Santa María. Within the Wharf, you can also visit the Isla del Encuentro, a recreation of the scenes adventurers encountered upon arriving in the "New World".
After exploring Columbus' trail around Huelva, you will be returned to your original pickup location in the city centre.
