Black Pottery Workshop in La Chamba
During this black pottery workshop in La Chamba, participants will learn about an ancient craft tradition and create clay objects. The experience begins at 9 am on Carrera 6, incorporating aspects of Colombian indigenous culture.
Initially, the group will travel to the community of La Chamba, stopping in El Espinal for breakfast. La Chamba is recognized for its artisan tradition, connected to the Yoropogos Indians, who utilize black clay to produce pots, vessels, figurines, and utensils.
At 10 am, the workshop will visit an artisan center to learn about the crafting processes of black ceramic objects. Participants will discover popular clay figurines, notably the Mohán, which depicts a seated man smoking tobacco.
Afterward, participants will have the chance to practice their pottery skills, donning aprons to model black ceramic figures.
Once the workshop concludes, the group will visit the Magdalena River for a walk along the banks, followed by a stop at a local farm for a traditional lunch. The afternoon will be free for leisure time at the swimming pool.
The return to Ibagué is scheduled for around 6 pm at the original meeting point.
