Embark on an immersive 2-day private trekking experience as we explore the renowned El Salto waterfall and traverse the breathtaking landscapes that lie at the base of the Nevado del Tolima. This is a chance to connect with the vibrant Colombian wilderness.
2-Day Private Hiking Expedition to El Salto Waterfall
Day 1
Your adventure commences at 6 am, meeting us at Carrera 4d in Ibagué. We will board a 4x4 vehicle that will take us to Juntas, the starting point of our hiking journey to the magnificent El Salto waterfall.
In Juntas, we will enjoy a hearty breakfast to fuel our spirits for the trek ahead. By 7:30 am, we set off on our journey, making our way towards the Escuela El Salto. Over the next six to eight hours, we will navigate through the scenic Combeima canyon, taking in the stunning views of the serene snow-capped peak of Tolima. Prepare for some breathtaking panoramas!
During our hike, we’ll pause for a lunch break, enjoying a meal of rice, meat, and plantain, accompanied by a refreshing lemonade to restore our energy.
Our day will conclude at the rural inn of the El Salto School, renowned for its beauty and as a haven for young farmers and mountain enthusiasts. Here, we will unwind and rest in preparation for the next day's adventures.
Day 2
On our second day, we will start with breakfast at the school's rural inn. Once we are ready, we will embark on an exciting one-hour trek to the El Salto waterfall—make sure to bring your camera for unforgettable moments!
After reveling in the beauty of the waterfall, we will make our way back to the school before starting our journey back to Juntas. This descent will take about five to six hours and includes a delightful stop for a hamburger while enjoying views of the Nevado del Tolima. Fun fact: this majestic volcano reaches heights of over 5200 meters (17060 feet).
Our day concludes with a jeep ride back to Ibagué, where we anticipate arriving around 5 pm.
