On this excursion to Honda with a boat trip on the Magdalena River, we will explore a prominent colonial town in central Colombia, known for its numerous bridges.

Honda Tour + Boat Trip

Pickup will be at 7 am from your hotel in Ibagué, followed by a two and a half hour drive to Honda, located along the Magdalena River. Upon arrival, a guided tour will cover the town's main attractions, including the Navarro Bridge, the first iron bridge in South America, and the Calle de las Trampas, known for its historical colonial buildings and its use to mislead pirates.

We will also visit the Plaza del Mercado, where the old Franciscan convent of San Bartolomé once stood. The architecture is retained in columns and arches, often referred to as the Parthenon of Tolima.

At midday, there will be a stop at a local restaurant for a two-course lunch, followed by a trip to the banks of the Magdalena River for a boat ride. During the journey, we will learn about the river's historical significance, including its role in indigenous funerary practices.

After a thirty-minute boat ride, we will return to the shore, where a vehicle will be available to take us back to Ibagué. Arrival at your hotel is expected by 4 pm.
