Tour Overview
Your adventure begins at a pre-arranged time in Piazza Quintino Sella. Here, we will kick off our walking excursion in Iglesias, where fascinating stories of the past and appreciation of its significant landmarks await.
As we start exploring Iglesias, we will unveil intriguing historical facts about this medieval settlement. We will delve into its mining heritage and the vital role it played during the time when Sardinia was under the jurisdiction of the Kingdom of Spain.
Strolling along the medieval fortifications and towers of Iglesi, we will make our way to the Castle of Salvaterra, with a history tracing back to the 13th century. From there, we will continue our exploration in the town center, taking in the striking façades of its prominent churches. Interestingly, the town's name translates to "Churches" in Spanish. We will visit the Church of San Domenico, the Church of La Purísima, the Church of San Marcello, the Cathedral of Santa Clara, among other parish churches from diverse eras.
Throughout our journey, we will also encounter art deco structures, including the Electra Theatre, as well as significant memorials dedicated to the soldiers who fell during World War I.
