Tour Details

At your selected time, we'll meet in Piazza Quintino Sella. From this point, we'll begin our walking tour of Iglesias, ready to learn all about its history and admire its main monuments.

We'll start the guided tour of Iglesias, revealing some historical curiosities of this medieval town. We will discuss its mining past and the role it played when Sardinia was part of the Kingdom of Spain.

We'll walk past the medieval walls and towers of Iglesias until we arrive in front of the Castle of Salvaterra, whose origins date back to the 13th century. Following this, we'll go back into the city centre to admire the façades of its main churches. The town's name means Churches in Spanish, and we will see the Church of San Domenico, the Church of La Purísima, the Church of San Marcello, the Cathedral of Santa Clara, and various other parish churches from different periods.

Along the route, we'll also see art deco buildings such as the Electra Theatre and important monuments commemorating the fallen soldiers of the First World War.

After an hour and a half tour of Iglesias, we'll end our visit in Piazza Guglielmo Oberdan.
