Diving at Ilhabela Shipwrecks
The coasts of Ilhabela attract both diving enthusiasts and history lovers. Meetings occur at a time of your choice at the diving school on Avenida Riachuelo, where you will learn why this Brazilian island is ideal for diving into both history and water.
After gearing up with scuba diving equipment and oxygen tanks, participants will dive into the waters of Ilhabela with a professional snorkeling instructor. The dive will include exploring the wreckage of ships that sunk decades ago, such as the Aymoré, a cargo ship that sank in a storm in 1920.
Another wreck site includes the English ocean liner Velazquez, which sank with 137 crew members aboard, all of whom survived. Participants will also observe aquatic species, such as crustaceans and sea sponges, inhabiting these wrecks.
After 4 hours of exploring this underwater world, the activity will conclude with a return to the surface.
