Are you ready to uncover two hidden treasures of northeastern Brazil? Join us on this excursion to Recife and Olinda, where you’ll experience the rich history and cultural heritage of these captivating cities.
Day Trip Overview
Our journey begins with a pickup from your hotel in Porto de Galinhas at the scheduled time, after which we’ll proceed north to the UNESCO-listed Olinda, recognized for its historical significance as a World Heritage Site.
As we explore the historic center of Olinda, you’ll be enchanted by the colonial architecture of this city, founded in 1535. Wander through streets lined with convents, monasteries, ornate churches, and vividly painted houses that offer a feast for the eyes.
Our next stop will be Alto da Sé, the city's highest point, where we'll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views over the city and its landmarks, including the splendid Sé and Misericórdia churches.
After our exploration in Olinda, we’ll board the minibus and make our way to Recife, the capital of Pernambuco. This city, founded in the 16th century and situated among rivers and the sea, is affectionately known as the City of Waters. Are you ready for the adventure?
We will commence with a guided tour highlighting the key attractions of Recife. Our walk will include Arsenal, a significant square in the Old Town, as well as Rua dos Judeus, famed as one of the world's most beautiful streets. Along the way, we will view the Kahal Zur Israel Synagogue and visit the Embassy of the Giant Puppets.
Following that, our route will take us to Rio Branco Square, also known as Marco Zero, where we will delve into its historical significance as the city’s founding site. As we continue, we’ll admire local crafts at the House of Culture and gain insights into Recife’s growth by visiting the Open-Air Museum's ruins.
Our day will culminate at Boa Viagem Beach, where you can soak in the stunning bay views. If you wish, there will be free time to embark on a catamaran ride along the Capibaribe River, the waterway that has given Recife its nickname of the Brazilian Venice.
At the end of an enriching day, we will take you back to your hotel, completing the trip in approximately 7 hours.
